Airbnb stands for Air Bed and Breakfast, and it all began when two roommates, Joe Gebbia and Brian Chesky, wanted to make some cash. They knew there was a conference in San Francisco, and it left a lot of hotels booked, so they bought 3 air mattresses and rented them out. They took that idea and made it what it is today which not only offers places to stay but experiences as well.

All around the world, there are 2.9 million hosts that are apart of Airbnb and over 7 million listings on the application. Currently, there are 220 countries and regions in 2021 that are active. With all the incredible listings that there are, there is one that is the most popular one in the world. This famous Airbnb is in Aptos, California near San Francisco in the middle of the woods and known as The Mushroom Dome.

This place is unique compared to the other properties in San Francisco. This place has hosted over 5.8K guests from all over the world, over 40 countries, such as Mongolia, China, India, Australia, Peru and more. The owner of the Mushroom dome, Kitty, originally put it on Craigslist, but got a lot of scammers. However, when she found Airbnb, she took a chance and it worked out quite successfully. If you want to stay here, you must make reservations at least 8 months in advance. It may be worth it as even though this property is the most popular Airbnb, Kitty, still makes it affordable for people to stay in. She only charged $156/night which is a very nice rate considering the popularity of the property. Is it the price and the uniqueness that makes it an experience you don’t want to miss out on? Maybe?
